Due to the French policy of severe religious suppression, I have been unable to stay close to you in the last five years to expound on my principles of Tao practice.
It is not because I wanted to avoid being near you, but because of the rogue authority's coercion that you and I could not directly interact with each other. However, many of our fellow adherents are very devoted and unwavering in their Faith. But, recently, some of them misunderstood and somewhat acted unethically against the Buddhist doctrine of compassion and generosity: hence this guidebook was produced. So, from now on, I expect that the following account of essentials would help all our fellow adherents exercise their intellect, contemplate and observe behavioral rules as defined to shun regrettable events, and preserve the reputation of Buddhism. Thus, you will not be ungrateful to Lord Master Sakyamuni Buddha for having founded Buddhism to guide the sentient beings seeking deliverance.
