Sấm Ngôn (tiếng La-tin từ chữ orare, "cầu nguyện", hay "thuyết giảng"), truyền thông thiêng liêng phát ra để đáp ứng thỉnh cầu của người thỉnh giảng; cũng nói về nguồn của dự ngôn đó.  Sấm ngôn là một nhánh của lời tiên tri nhưng khác với ngôn từ về tương lai liên hệ tới một người nhất định hay nơi chốn xác định nào đó.  Chẳng hạn, sấm ngôn của Zeuys phát nguồn từ Dodona, Olympia, hay Siwa; những sấm ngôn của Sibyl được lưu hành rộng rải, nhưng nguồn gốc thì không ai biết.

Sấm Ngôn là nhận xét có tính tiên tri vô tình nói ra sau đó thành sự thật; dự ngôn.

SẤM: Là những lời tiên tri (cho biết trước) về thế cuộc sắp xảy ra, được ghi bằng các câu văn vần, với ý nghĩa khó hiểu hơn lời thơ thường, như lời Sấm Ký của Thiền sư Vạn Hạnh đời tiền Lê, lời Sấm của cụ Trạng Trình thời Lê Mạt, hoặc Sấm truyền của Đức Phật Thầy Tây An thời Nguyễn.

GIẢNG: là giải thích, là giải bày giáo lý cao sâu của Đạo Phật cho người hiểu rõ phương thức tu hành. Sấm Giảng là quyển giảng, trong đó vừa tiên tri thời cơ, vừa giải bày đạo lý để khuyến hóa nhân sanh, sớm thức tỉnh trau thân hành Đạo. Do đó quyển giảng nầy được mang tiêu đề là Sấm Giảng.

GIẢNG is explain, expound the esoteric Buddhist philosophy and relevant practicing methods. Oracles are a collection of writings which both forewarn the worldlings of upcoming consequential events and teach them how to deal with these in an effective manner, in which self-cultivation should be given due consideration.  Therefore, these volumes are titled 'Sấm Giảng' (Oracles).
