VISIT TO MY HOI DONG VILLAGE
Strolling on the Year of Metal Dragon (1),
We set foot in the village of Hoi Dong(2).
Back home at mountains, We always aspire,
Streaked with tears, thinking of their plight.
From our enquiry all over the place,
Rural adherents yearn for a moral base.
To practice is to learn from Buddhas or Fairies,
It is to work out what nobility is.
Spring drenchers have not yet commenced,
As if your morality had not yet been enhanced.
From dawn to dusk, get rid of self-interests,
Seek Bodhi (3) to ascend the realm of pureness.
Alas! Folks should be less self-immersing,
The Tao is the best to explicate your suffering.
Earnestly lift the cloud, a lofty gray,
Till Master and disciple meet at the Lower Age.
Our agape love is very tender,
Though someone trades it off for rancor.
The sacred bell tolls precipitately,
May the village enjoy peace and prosperity.
Once Chi and Lan grass (4) become a unity,
At Dragon’s dawn, rock and gold encounter.
Strain hard for gold in the brass mixture,
Exchange your lay body for natural delicacy.
By a good cause (5), you know Mad and Crazy,
It’s due to your previous life’s good grace.
Find out how to escape the delusive place,
This is one of the happiest ideal spaces.
The Saints appeal for the Middle Way (6),
The conscious noble use the straight.
The assembly of noble people is jubilant,
Endeavor to the end and be persistent.
Opulence is like margaretta and ochna,
By the end of their season, they soon wither.
Mystical is the Tao of Sakyamuni Gautama,
Who split his heart to see a divine aura.
Don’t procrastinate nor float,
And you’ll be delivered by the Mercy Boat.
The Creator is excellent at adjudicating,
Always fair is his rewarding and punishing.
When the Sam and Thuong stars are united,
Confucians toward their integrity are excited.
Though people gaily emulate one another,
Their insights’ depths alone really matter.
The sour fruit are not lacking in society,
The fruit are sweet now, you should buy them quickly.
We’ve hitherto expounded our sermons,
Firmly tell the truth to guard the Buddha pantheon.
Our talents are very ordinary,
Rejected or detested, We don’t take it seriously.
A transient show is of a special perfume,
It calls folks to wake up from a spring dream.
Glued together, shoulder to shoulder,
Their conduct makes Us half joyous, half anxious.
We’re joyous seeing their positive side,
Anxious anticipating their coming plight.
We borrow poetry to get them mindful,
Of how to follow the good and avoid the evil.
Train your mind in iron-clad resoluteness,
Never waver and you will be free of harness.
The temporal sea of sufferings is immense,
Yet, groaners soon forget their sad experience.
The observation causes our palpitations,
Old-day tales have shown deglorifications.
When the Luan bird meets her phoenix ,
No hostile East and West means global peace.
Under the Lord and Patriarch Buddha’s decree,
We’re commissioned to teach to the wordly.
Like the cowherd and weaver with black crows,
Now that We meet, all our feelings should flow.
Through myriad mishaps in hasty succession,
We grieve ‘cause of overdue obligations.
As celestial disasters are sweeping through,
We can’t bring ourselves to keep it from you.
Having experienced a tough time,
Till the Central unity, We can’t be satisfied.
The rotating Earth makes a global change,
Awful thousands of cadavers cover a wide range.
If you disregard morality today,
You can’t buy it later even with heaps of money.
If you wade through seas of loss and advantage,
It is the depression that you'll end up with.
Buddha and humanity share the same creator,
One is pure, the other impure, it makes them differ,
We don’t care about our hard labor,
Provided all folks should soon be delivered.
The next five years incur deprivation,
People will suffer till the Han’s era restoration,
The Buddha and Fairy lands are immense,
Pines, ochnas, willows, bamboos, entrance.
The five clouds have five tints in five colorings,
Voilà! Turtles and pheonixes are frolicking.
Thunders rumble with sounds being strident,
The Idyll unfolds to greet parents and their children.
So far their loyal relationship has waned,
Today in their reunion is no more complaint.
To all the nation states in a political parlance,
May you enjoy accord and good governance.
If now you do things morally adverse,
You’ll bitterly suffer from your sins afterwards.
If you’re smart, seek the Maha,
Peace should come to those who recite Amitabha.
The long road is not easy to go on,
It’s hard for Us to frequent as often as We want.
Take a good care of your parents,
In temporal matters, follow the Master’s guidance.
We leave off writing and wait for our prime time,
May you soon know Us by deepening your insight.
