HAN TIN: He is of Hoai Am land, Chu State (Qin’s China). He was born under Qin, Han and Chu dynasties. His family is very poor. Xin often goes fishing for rice; at times, when the rice is not enough, Xin has to eat from Mrs. Poll Mau, but Xin actively learns martial arts and always carries a sword.
One day Xin brought fish to the market for sale, there were young thugs who insulted and told Tin: "If you don't dare to kill him, you must pass him off". After thinking carefully, Xin immediately kneeled and crawled through the thugs. Everyone at the market laughed, deeming Xin a coward. Only the Fortune teller named Hua Phu knew of him that he was a talented man who had not met his time yet.
When Xiang Wu and his uncle uprose against Qin, Xincame and enlisted. But as Xiang Wu unwittingly underestimated him as a useless through bottom crawler, assigning him as a mobile porter, even though the advisor, Pham Thiang, knew Xin as a talented man, and several times nominated him to higher positions, but to no avail. By then, King Han (Liu Bang) prepared to fight Chu and, though he had enough soldiers and horses, he lacked a general commandant for the army in the East expedition, therefore Ziang Liang must seek an excellent person for that important position.
One day, when he dropped at Xiang Ba’s (Xiang Wu’s uncle), Ziang Liang came across on the table a proposal by Han Xin expounding political strategies with Xiang Wu. Zhang Liang sweated and thought: Those who know how to use Xin will conquer the world. Thus he sought to win Xin over and wrote a secret letter to Liu Bang, but Liu Bang who has not know Xin’s talent, thus appointed him for storeman of food. Later, owing to Xiao He and Xia Hou Ying’s devotion to helping him, Liu Bang promoted Xin and held a general appointment ceremony for Xin to be the anti- Chu Generalissimo, commanding the troops to attack Chu.
After a period of training soldiers versed in strategems, Xin took them raiding places far and wide; wherever his army went, they were like border breaking waters. Qi, Yan, Zhao, States had so many times been awe-struck, even the generals and soldiers of Xiang Wu facing the frightening speed and maneuverbility of Xin. In the Wang Yang battle, for example, Xin destroyed the 20.000 strong army of Xiang Wu; and the great battle at Jiu li Shan, a decider of the survivalibity of Han or Chu which led to terminating Xiang Wu’s brave life by the invincible hero of Hoai Ying at Ou Yang port for his guile.
Lord Master used this tale to imply that, when his time has not yet arrived, He must buy his time though He had to incur so many defilements and hardship. But one day, He will:
“I’ll take my stratagems to save the country”. (Using Rules and Non-Rules) Then:
“My good name will spread everywhere”. (Madman’s Ode, Vol. 2)
“Everyone will know who Madman is” (Oracle Vol. 1)
